Reimbursement Specialist II

Reviews patient accounts and ensures their accuracy and
completeness, determines appropriate billing/collections processes
and processes statements, monitors outstanding accounts processes
refunds for overpayments, receives and answers billing-related
inquiries, and assists in the preparation of billing reports.
Essential Job Functions:
+ Prepares appropriate billing statements for self-pay,
Medicare, Medicaid and/or third-party payers.
+ Monitors the status of outstanding accounts and identifies
those past due accounts for follow-up action.
+ Submit claims to Medicare, Medicaid and/or third-party payers
in a timely manner.
+ As required, processes refunds for overpaid accounts.
+ Receives and answers inquiries from patients, insurance
companies, Medicare and other parties regarding changes and/or
+ Assists in the preparation of billing activity reports.
+ Reviews patient account documentation received from the
branches for eligibility.
+ Identifies any missing information for new admissions and
follows up with appropriate branch office personnel.
+ Files complete patient account files according to established
+ Collects patient admission and other related statistics for
the Reimbursement Supervisor to assist in the compilation of
billing activity reports.
+ Receives and reviews past due bills and follow up documents to
determine the nature and extent of delinquency problems and any
actions taken by patients or third-party payers. Confers with the
Reimbursement Supervisor as needed to obtain additional information
+ Performs special projects as assigned.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience and Skills:
+ 3-5 years of billing/collections experience in Home Health or
related industry (Hospice, Hospital, Physician, etc.)
+ 3-5 years' experience with Medicare, Medicaid and Private
+ High school diploma required college courses in accounting
+ Must have strong work ethics.
+ Well organized and a self-starter.
+ Ability to follow standard filing procedures.
+ Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable.
+ Proficient in Excel and Word, 10-key by touch.
+ Possess strong organizational and time management skills.
+ Strong problem-solving skills, basic accounting principles
knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills,
data analysis and multi-tasking skills.
+ Interact with others in a professional manner.
+ Speak and write English.
+ Work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and
high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and
