Salary Schedules Link /Days: 187 Primary Purpose: Provide
quality course information by planning, preparing, and delivering
quality classroom instruction. Implement the Toni & Guy
Hairdressing Academy curriculum. Provide guidance and academic
support to students to facilitate course completion. Maintain a
high student retention rate based on organizational and regulatory
expectations. Evaluate and answer student inquiries and ensure
appropriate action is taken to resolve issues. Deliver the Toni &
Guy Spotlight Experience to all Academy students with a commitment
to student success and overall positive educational experience at
the Academy. Qualifications: Education/Certification: Bachelor’s
degree, associate’s degree, or high school diploma/GED and
equivalent wage-earning experience required for certification Valid
Texas career and technical education certificate with required
license, endorsements, and training for subject and level assigned,
or related training and work experience for certification waivers
under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI) State Cosmetology
License Three years of experience as a hairdresser, hairdresser
training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Cosmetology School experience, preferred Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of technical hairdressing, colour, and cosmetology skills
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction Ability to instruct
students and manage their behavior Strong organizational,
communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills Ability to
facilitate, monitor and oversee student field experiences in career
area assigned Ability to solve problems Knowledge of State Board
procedures Experience: Student teaching, approved internship, or 2
years of wage-earning experience in area of certification Major
Responsibilities and Duties: Program Responsibilities 1. Manage the
daily operation of the assigned subject area. 2. Comply with
federal, state, and local regulations related to occupational area
assigned. 3. May calculate, compile, and record cash receipts and
maintain complete and systematic records of financial transactions
that result from operation of simulated businesses. Ensure that
operations are cost effective and funds are managed wisely. 4.
Maintain awareness of all Academy activities by referring to
Academy calendars. 5. Coordinate student Test-Outs with the
Education Director. 6. Assist the Director(s), Education Directors,
and students in producing the Annual Student Soiree. 7. Attend and
actively participate in occasional special events. Instructional
Strategies 8. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the
requirements of the district's curriculum program and show written
evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect
accommodations for differences in individual student differences.
9. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies,
activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect
understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned
and present subject matter according to guidelines established by
Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative
regulations. 10. Conduct assessment of student learning styles and
use results to plan instructional activities. 11. Work
cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula
as needed for special education students according to guidelines
established in Individual Education Plans (IEP). 12. Work with
other members of staff to determine instructional goals,
objectives, and methods according to district requirements. Student
Growth and Development 13. Conduct ongoing assessment of student
achievement through formal and informal testing. 14. Assume
responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor
outside activities approved by the campus principal. It is an
expectation of the assignment to oversee any CTSO (DECA, HOSA, FFA,
TAFE, SkillsUSA, TSA) associated with the program. 15. Present a
positive role model for students; support the mission of the school
district. Classroom Management and Organization 16. Create
classroom environments conducive to learning and appropriate for
the physical, social, and emotional development of students. 17.
Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct
and student handbook. 18. Take all necessary and reasonable
precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and
facilities. 19. Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other
instructional materials. 20. Compile, maintain, and file all
reports, records, and other documents required. Communication 21.
Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open
communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community
members. Professional Growth and Development 22. Participate in
staff development activities to improve job-related skills. 23.
Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff
committees as required. 24. Comply with state, district, and school
regulations and policies for classroom teachers. 25. Comply with
federal, state, and local regulations related to the occupational
area assigned. Other 26. Follow district safety protocols and
emergency procedures. 27. Must possess the qualifications to
provide the Industry Based Certifications associated with the
content or a willingness to obtain the qualifications. 28. Maintain
the knowledge and proficiency regarding specialized equipment,
software, or hardware necessary to the content area, including
training for specialized courses. Supervisory Responsibilities:
Direct the work of assigned instructional aide(s). Mental

Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional
equipment; equipment required to demonstrate and perform tasks
related to assigned career and technical education subject area

walking Lifting: Regular moderate lifting and carrying (15 to 44
pounds); may lift and move textbooks, classroom equipment, and
other tools and equipment in the classroom and career lab
Environment: May work inside and outside; on slippery or uneven
walking services; around machinery with moving parts; may be
exposed to chemical hazards or biohazards; regular exposure to
noise; may require district-wide travel Mental Demands: Maintain
emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular
hours
