Description PlainsCapital Bank is seeking a Senior SBA Loan Closer/Packager who will ensure compliance with SBA requirements as well as recognize and proactively resolve problems in the closing process to ensure accuracy and completion of all necessary loan documents. Operating with a high level of independence and discretion, the Senior SBA Loan Closer will work closely with the Director of SBA Lending, the SBA Credit Manager, the Closing Manager, lenders, attorneys, and other third-parties throughout the closing process to ensure the completeness and accuracy of all information. Will also train/mentor new SBA Closers/Packagers as needed. Responsibilities Prepares early disclosures. Contacts title companies for estimated fees. Orders flood certificates and follows flood procedures when a property is in a flood zone. Orders title work and corresponds with the title company in coordinating the closing. Prepares appraisal engagement letters and orders appraisal reviews as requested. Reviews and approves HUD. Prepares order sheet and provides attorney with required items to order loan documents. Calculates funding amounts, sends required items to Note Department for booking, and inputs wire information into wire system. Reviews and prepares final closing package and ships to Lubbock credit department. Prepares closing checklists and works directly with borrower to collect required documents. Communicate regularly with borrower to answer questions to ensure understanding of loan process. Works directly with outside counsel to prepare closing documents. Reviews all documentation collected to ensure all loan requirements are met prior to closing. Reviews and approves settlement statements prior to loan closing. Reviews and documents borrower’s equity requirements. Prepares SBA 7a loan package, obtains SBA approval and prepares SBA 7a authorization to meet bank loan approval requirements (when applicable). Funds loan draws in accordance with the SBA and bank required documentation. Actively bring forward recommendations for improvements to processes and procedures to support the strategic growth efforts of the SBA department. Participates in weekly closing and pipeline meetings. Train/mentor new SBA Closers/Packagers as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School diploma, general education degree (GED), or equivalent required. 5 or more years of experience in SBA loan closing/packaging required. Strong knowledge of SBA regulations and closing procedures, real estate loan documentation and flood regulations required. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of customers, clients, and Bank personnel. Excellent PC skills, including word processing and spreadsheets via Microsoft Office products as well as custom applications and systems. Excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task and work in a deadline-driven environment. Must be self-motivated with strong attention to detail and high level of accountability
